Elana has taught voice in the NYC and Boston metropolitan areas for 12 years. She often additionally touches upon music theory, composition, songwriting, improvisation, and sight reading in lessons. She works with students of all experience levels. Institutions Elana has taught at include Park Slope Music School, New York Jazz Workshop, Bravissimo Music, German International School of Boston, East End Arts School, and School of Rock New York City/Boston/Tenafly.
Elana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance and Composition from Berklee College of Music, and a Master of Arts in Voice Performance from Hunter College. Elana was awarded as a Richard Burke scholar, in memorial of composer and educator Richard Burke, and the Shirley P. Mintz Award for Comprehensive Knowledge and Love of Music. Elana recently completed a postbaccalaureate in speech-language pathology from Northwestern University, and has a special interest in voice disorders and vocal health.
Elana teaches using the principles she learned in all 3 levels of Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method, which she has attended multiple times. She has also taken Dr. Trineice Robinson Martin’s course Soul Ingredients®: Pedagogy of Soul, and attended the Singing Voice Science Workshop conference. Elana frequently attends voice science, anatomy and physiology, health, and pedagogical conferences and courses. Elana is a member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing New York City Chapter (NATS) and The Voice Foundation (TVF).
